**Yasmin Le Bon Speaks Candidly About Chronic Back Pain and Its Impact on Her Life**
Veteran British model Yasmin Le Bon has opened up about a long-standing struggle with severe back pain, a consequence of her highly successful modelling career in the 1980s. The 60-year-old, one of the most prominent faces of her generation, spoke with remarkable honesty about the challenges she now faces as a result of physically demanding work that once defined her life.
In a recent interview with HELLO! magazine, Yasmin revealed the true extent of her suffering, admitting that her modelling past had come at a serious physical cost. “You don’t do what I’ve done for a living and not pay the price somewhere down the line,” she remarked. The former supermodel reminisced about days spent performing energetic jumps and movements during endless photoshoots. “When I was working a lot in the 80s, I used to spend all day long doing balletic leaps across a set, like Zebedee in stiletto high heels on concrete. Now nobody does that because that’s bonkers, but I did,” she said, highlighting the intensity and physicality required in the industry at the time.
Yasmin also discussed the effect of these back problems on her mental health and daily life. At times, the pain has become so overwhelming that simply walking has been a challenge. “I’ve had times in my life where it has become really, very depressing when I couldn’t walk without pain, couldn’t do anything, and it’s really hard,” she confessed. Her candour sheds much-needed light on the invisible struggles many face with chronic pain, an issue often silently endured.
The model expressed deep empathy for others confronting similar conditions. “I feel for anybody who’s had back pain or is going through it. I think it’s a mental thing as well, getting through the fact that maybe you’re going to have to live with a certain amount of pain,” she said. Yasmin’s reflections highlight the psychological burden of living with a chronic condition and the emotional resilience required to adapt over time.
Learning to manage her pain has entailed significant lifestyle adjustments. Yasmin explained, “You can do that; you just have to change the way you do everything.” This pragmatic approach underlines the importance of adaptation and self-care—lessons undoubtedly familiar to many dealing with long-term ailments.
The star’s experience with menopause brought additional challenges, prompting a further change in daily life. One surprising adaptation involved her wardrobe: Yasmin stopped wearing black, opting for brighter colours that lifted her spirits. “I felt like I needed my mood to be up. I think through the menopause, I really needed colour in my life. That sounds crazy and it sounds shallow, but it’s a funny thing. Black was beginning to drag me down,” she recalled.
Despite these significant health issues, Yasmin remains positive. Married to Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon and mother to three daughters—Amber, Saffron, and Tallulah—she reflected on the blessings in her life, whilst acknowledging its imperfections. “I feel very blessed in life; I’ve been unbelievably lucky. But you know my world—like everyone’s—is not perfect and doesn’t smell of roses all the time. And I think it can be really difficult.”
Yasmin’s open discussion about her pain and the ways she is coping serves as an inspiration to many, inviting greater understanding of the struggles that can follow a life in the spotlight. By openly sharing her story, she highlights not only the glamour but also the real, human consequences of a demanding career far from the public gaze.
