Voting is now open for the public to choose the next recipients of the prestigious £100,000 Pride of Britain Fund grants. This initiative will award grants of £2,500, £1,000 and £500 to 65 outstanding community projects and individuals across the UK. The grants aim to recognise and support the invaluable work done by these unsung heroes who make a significant difference within their local communities. This fund complements the long-standing Pride of Britain Awards, a platform that has been honouring extraordinary individuals for over 25 years.
Michelle Linaker, trustee of the Pride of Britain Fund and Head of Studio Live at Reach, expressed admiration for the countless individuals who selflessly contribute to their communities. Whether it’s lending a helping hand to neighbours or creating safe spaces for children to play, these unsung heroes truly embody the spirit of community service. She encouraged the public to participate in the voting process, highlighting the diverse and impactful nominations from all corners of the country.
To participate in the voting process, individuals are required to provide their full name and email address. Voters can then select their favourite nominee from each region, including Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, North East, North West, Yorkshire/Humber, Midlands, South East, and South West. The voting period will last for four weeks, starting from 9am on Monday, 3 February and concluding at 11:45pm on Sunday, 2 March 2025. The results of the voting will be announced one week after the voting period ends.
Darren Fisher, chair of the board of trustees for the Pride of Britain Fund and Reach chief finance officer, emphasised the importance of allowing the public to determine the grant recipients. The fund has allocated a total of £100,000 to support local heroes who have a tangible impact on their communities. The grants will be distributed as follows: £2,500 each for the top two projects in each region, £2,500 for the 12 projects with the highest overall vote totals, £1,000 for the 15 projects with the next highest vote totals, and £500 for the 20 projects following closely behind.
This allocation ensures that the grant money is distributed evenly across regions, guaranteeing maximum community impact. The fund aims to empower and celebrate those individuals and groups who are working tirelessly behind the scenes to better their communities, one act of kindness at a time. By engaging the public in the voting process, the Pride of Britain Fund seeks to acknowledge and reward the exceptional contributions of local heroes who often go unnoticed.
The Pride of Britain Fund stands as a beacon of recognition for those who dedicate their time and effort to improving the lives of others. Through the support of grants ranging from £500 to £2,500, these community projects and individuals will have the opportunity to further their impactful work and continue making a positive difference in the lives of those around them. The public’s participation in the voting process will play a crucial role in determining which nominees will receive these prestigious grants and continue their vital community efforts.
