A disturbing case of sexual violence has surfaced in Cardiff, where a man, Curtis Green, 28, has been found guilty of rape after repeatedly hitting a woman during a sexual encounter. The shocking details emerged during a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, revealing the callous behaviour exhibited by Green towards his victim.
The court heard that Green, after initially gaining consent from the victim, began assaulting her during sex, hitting her to the face with a closed fist. Despite her pleas and tears, Green refused to stop the violence, callously telling her that “Rhondda and Valley girls like sex like that.” The victim’s attempts to escape were thwarted as Green dragged her back to the bed by her wrists and continued to hit her, causing him to become “aroused”.
Describing the event as a form of brutalisation, Judge Eugene Egan highlighted Green’s disturbing behaviour, noting that he seemed sexually stimulated by the violence he inflicted. The victim, in a statement read to the court, expressed the lasting trauma and devastation caused by the abuse, stating that it has completely changed her as a person and left her feeling scared, humiliated, and emotionally numb.
Green, who denied the charges, was sentenced to eight years in prison, with the judge emphasizing the severity of his actions by imposing a restraining order and sex offender notification requirements indefinitely. Despite Green now having a partner and a young son, his difficult upbringing and family history were cited as aggravating factors during the sentencing.
