- Goldendoodle: A crossbreed between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, known for its friendly, intelligent, and playful nature. Has a curly or wavy coat that can range from cream to golden brown. First-year expenses are estimated at around £4,510, with ongoing annual costs averaging £1,790. Total cost over the dog’s lifespan is projected to be about £25,970.
- Bernese Mountain Dog: A large, fluffy dog with a thick coat of black, white, and brown fur. Known for being gentle, friendly, and great family pets. Prone to cancer, hip dysplasia, and elbow dysplasia. Treatments for cancer could cost up to £15,000, while dysplasia treatments range from £2,000 to £3,000.
- American Bull Dog: Strong, muscular dog with a short coat, usually white with patches of color like brown or brindle. Loyal and protective, prone to health issues such as hip dysplasia, skin allergies, breathing problems, and obesity.
- Rottweiler: Known for its muscular body, short black fur, and distinctive tan markings. Loyal, intelligent, and protective, but at risk for hip and elbow dysplasia among other health conditions. Treatment for these conditions starts at £2,600 for each elbow procedure and £3,600 for hips.
- French Bulldog: Small but strong dogs with short fur, flat faces, and pointy ears. Prone to health problems like breathing issues and skin allergies. One of the more expensive breeds to insure due to high likelihood of health problems.
