Update on major £300m plans for Welsh ski slope and leisure resort

A decision on the £300m Rhydycar West ski slope and leisure resort in Merthyr Tydfil is expected after the summer. The project aims to create a large indoor sports and leisure facility, including an indoor snow centre, waterpark, and hotel. It is predicted to provide employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the local economy. Planned by Marvel Limited, the resort is anticipated to become a key tourist destination in the UK. The proposal is currently under review by Merthyr Tydfil Council, with feedback received to progress the decision-making process swiftly. The project is expected to bring valuable economic and social benefits to the region. Gerald Jones MP and Dawn Bowden MS have expressed support for the development, emphasising its potential to transform the area’s fortunes. A planning decision is anticipated post-summer recess.
