Fraternal twins Nicola and Victoria Tsang have once again achieved identical academic success, this time at A level, two years after their identical GCSE results. The 17-year-olds, hailing from Hong Kong, attend Benenden School in Kent and both secured A* grades in Economics, A grades in Maths and Physics, and an A* in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), akin to a mini dissertation. Victoria, older by a minute, expressed her disbelief at the parallel results, noting their initial mock exam grades differed.
Nicola shared her surprise, saying they both discovered their university acceptances before checking their results and were astounded to find their identical grades once again. Despite shared friend groups and experiences, the sisters are excited about pursuing law degrees at separate universities – Victoria to Cambridge and Nicola to the London School of Economics. The impending distance between them is seen as an opportunity for individual growth and diverse social circles.
Within their school year, the Tsang sisters are among three sets of twins, another pair also achieving identical results in different subjects. Their academic achievements go beyond A levels, with both securing nine level 9 GCSE grades and two level 8s previously. Noteworthy is their history of academic synchronicity, such as scoring equivalently on Maths tests and even making the same incorrect answers in separate classrooms during an exam.
The exceptional outcomes at Benenden School reflect a broader trend of academic success, with 68% of grades at A* or A level this year and a significant increase in A* outcomes and score distributions compared to prior years. The Tsang sisters’ achievements reaffirm the school’s academic excellence and mark a notable milestone in their educational journey.
