The move will introduce an additional 20,000 holiday options for travelers, with TUI adding a second aircraft at the Welsh Government-owned airport in Rhoose. The investment includes a new exclusive route to Fuerteventura starting from December 20 next year, to continue into the 2026 summer season.
Due to high demand, TUI is also increasing its flights to Gran Canaria from one to twice weekly starting from December 18, extending through the summer season. Additionally, flights to Tenerife will see an increase from three to four times a week beginning December 21 next year. Phillip Iveson, TUI UK&I commercial director, expressed excitement at expanding travel choices for Welsh holidaymakers.

The additional 20,000 holidays on offer are in response to customer demands for more options from the national airport. TUI’s growth in Wales is highlighted by the fact that it employs over 550 people in the region. The company’s recent additions of new destinations like Fuerteventura, Cancun, and Chambéry, along with increased flights to Barbados, bring the total destinations served by TUI from Cardiff to 26.
The news has been met with enthusiasm from the Welsh community, as the increased flight options provide more convenience and flexibility for travelers flying out of Cardiff Airport. With the new exclusive route to Fuerteventura and expanded services to Gran Canaria and Tenerife, holidaymakers can look forward to enhanced travel experiences and more opportunities to explore popular destinations.
