Creditsafe, a leading business information provider, has announced the relocation of its headquarters and 300 staff members to Cardiff, marking the largest out-of-town office letting deal the city has seen in years. The company currently has offices in Cardiff Bay, Dublin, and London but will be moving its primary operation from Caerphilly Business Park to the 50,000 sq ft Ty Meridian office building at Cardiff Gate Business Park. The move is scheduled to be completed next month, with Creditsafe taking over the entire building which includes a car park with approximately 200 spaces.
Ty Meridian, owned by utilities group SSE, has been vacant for some time after being previously occupied by SSE’s retail business, before being acquired by Ovo Energy in 2019. While SSE still maintains a presence in another building at the business park, JLL acted on behalf of SSE Services in securing a 15-year letting deal with Creditsafe at an estimated rental rate of £13.50 per sq ft. Burston Cook represented Creditsafe, which serves over 40,000 business customers in the UK, offering services to assist in navigating financial, procurement, and compliance risks.
Chris Robertson, the CEO of Creditsafe UK and Ireland, expressed excitement about the relocation to Ty Meridian, highlighting the flexibility provided by the spacious floors and the convenient location near junction 30 of the M4 motorway for accessibility to staff. In a strategic move last year, the Welsh Government acquired the empty 52,000 sq ft Centre 7 building at Cardiff Gate Business Park for £5.8 million from Sir Robert McAlpine Staff Pension and Life Assurance Scheme, further showcasing the growing economic activity in the region.
The decision by Creditsafe to establish its new headquarters in Cardiff underscores the city’s appeal as a thriving business hub, offering modern office spaces and convenient access to transportation networks. With the completion of this significant letting deal, Cardiff solidifies its position as a prime destination for companies looking to expand or relocate operations. The Welsh Government’s investment in acquiring commercial properties also demonstrates a commitment to fostering economic growth and creating employment opportunities in the region.
The move by Creditsafe is expected to bring about a positive impact on the local economy, creating job opportunities for residents and contributing to the overall development of Cardiff as a prominent business centre. The availability of modern office space at Cardiff Gate Business Park, coupled with competitive rental rates, further enhances the city’s appeal to businesses seeking to establish a presence in the region. The relocation of Creditsafe’s headquarters represents a vote of confidence in Cardiff’s business environment and sets a precedent for future investments and developments in the area.
As Creditsafe prepares to transition its operations to Ty Meridian, the company looks forward to leveraging the strategic location and amenities of the new office building to enhance productivity and collaboration among its staff members. With its established track record in providing business information services, Creditsafe’s presence in Cardiff is poised to contribute to the city’s growing reputation as a centre for innovation and economic advancement. The synergies created by businesses like Creditsafe moving to Cardiff serve to strengthen the city’s position as a dynamic business destination with a bright future ahead.
