‘Tipper’ Twitter to add ‘tip’ function for users with Bitcoin

They also will be making NFTs more prominent on the platform, and adding more tools for moderation and creators.

Twitter’s recent announcement of exciting new features for its platform include more flexible controls and the ability to send cryptocurrency between users bringing in a new age of use for cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin is to be added to their new ‘Tips’ feature, which is only avalible with third party apps meaning twitter do not take a cut, which will allow users to send money to others through PayPal and other third-party services, which will be rolled out world wide.

Allowing users to add their crypto wallets to their profile and send the cryptocurrency directly within the app, starting yesterday, through ‘Strike’ which is a third-party a payments application built on the Bitcoin Lightning Network.

Tips until recently has only been available for selected users but will now be for users on iPhones with Android users coming very soon.

Twitter’s Jack Dorsey has been a long advocate of cryptocurrency, saying that it would “unite the world” and believes it will become the “native currency of the internet”.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are also becoming a bigger part of Twitter, with the company ‘exploring’ NFT authentication, letting users directly connect their crypto wallets and show off their NFT ownership on Twitter.
