Man on the Run for Two Years: Declares He Won’t Return to Wales
Dean Mayze, a man wanted in connection with an alleged bleach attack at a Welsh wellness retreat, remains at large almost two years after the incident. The police have stated that ongoing inquiries are being made to locate the suspect. The incident took place at a wellness centre in Abercrave in the upper Swansea Valley on December 10, 2022. During the incident, a man named Keifer Price, who was renting a room at the establishment, had a “very strong alkaline solution” thrown into his face, believed to be bleach. The liquid entered Mr Price’s eyes, nose, and mouth, resulting in him being rushed to the hospital where intensive treatment saved his eyesight. When the police attempted to speak with Mayze, he was nowhere to be found. Subsequently, the suspect contacted the police to acknowledge he was wanted and promised to attend a police station at his own discretion. However, he failed to appear and instead fled the country.
Reports from Swansea Crown Court revealed that after the Abercrave incident, Mayze travelled to Disneyland in France and then visited various countries across Europe. Six weeks following the alleged bleach attack, he was traced to Greece. The court proceedings further disclosed that Mayze had been communicating via email with detectives, clearly stating his refusal to return to Wales. In April of the same year, Dean Mayze’s brother, Robert Mayze, received a suspended prison sentence for witness intimidation regarding Keifer Price. The court was informed that Robert Mayze had shown up twice at Mr Price’s workplace, filming him on his phone during one occasion, and following Mr Price along a main road on the other. Robert Mayze was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months.
In addition to his brother’s conviction, Mayze’s long-term partner, Jemma Webb, faced consequences for admitting to perverting the course of justice. Webb falsely confessed to throwing the liquid at Mr Price in a bid to protect Mayze. Despite her admission being proven false, she was handed an eight-month suspended prison sentence for her actions. Investigations led to Dean Mayze being charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm, but he failed to appear in court as required. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued as his whereabouts remained unknown. Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that Mayze is still at large, and efforts to locate him are ongoing. Anyone with information on Dean Mayze’s whereabouts is urged to contact the police.
The severity of the allegations surrounding Dean Mayze and the lengths to which he and his acquaintances have gone to evade the authorities have raised concerns within the community. The acknowledgment that Mayze has openly declared his unwillingness to face judicial proceedings in Wales adds another layer of intrigue to the case. Despite the passage of time, the unresolved nature of the incident and the ongoing search for Mayze have left many questioning the complexities of the justice system and the challenges faced by law enforcement in tracking down wanted individuals. As the investigation continues, the community awaits further developments in the pursuit of bringing Dean Mayze to justice for the alleged bleach attack and its repercussions on Keifer Price.
