Talbot Green-born Andrew Jenkins, a star from the reality show The Traitors, has announced his plan to walk 1200km across the UK to raise funds for Headway, a charity supporting brain injury survivors. Andrew, who gained recognition after reaching the final of The Traitors, has been using his platform to raise awareness for mental health and is now embarking on this massive challenge for a cause close to his heart.
The 46-year-old’s journey with Headway began after a life-altering car accident at 21, leaving him in a coma for four weeks and with severe brain injuries. Against all odds, Andrew recovered but was left with both physical and mental scars. Through his challenge, he aims to show others facing trauma that there’s hope for a brighter future.
Starting from Andross Castle in Scotland, where The Traitors was filmed, Andrew will trek through all four nations, concluding at Cardiff Castle in November. His goal is not only to raise funds for Headway but also to shed light on mental health issues, particularly among men. Along the way, Andrew plans to deliver talks on wellbeing and mental health to various groups.
Reflecting on his decision to take on this challenge, Andrew expressed gratitude for a second chance at life and highlighted the importance of self-belief in achieving goals. He hopes his endeavour will inspire others facing similar struggles to persevere and seek support. Jen Murgatroyd, Headway’s Director of Fundraising, commended Andrew’s dedication and anticipated that his journey would provide hope and inspiration to brain injury survivors.
Andrew’s fundraising efforts can be supported through his Givestar page. As he embarks on this monumental journey, Andrew remains committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by brain injuries and mental health challenges.
