The road closures that will be in place for Swansea Bay 10k

The Road Closures for Swansea Bay 10k Event

The 43rd Admiral Swansea Bay 10k event is set to take place on September 15, marking a significant fixture in the city of Swansea’s sporting calendar. Runners from all over will gather to participate in the scenic course along Swansea Bay. The main 10k race will kick off at 11am from Mumbles Road, starting opposite the recreation ground, and will follow a route that includes Mumbles Road, Oystermouth Square, Brynmill Lane, and more, before finishing at the starting point. The race village will be situated at the recreation ground.

To ensure the safety and smooth running of the event, several road closures, traffic diversions, and parking restrictions will be in place in the vicinity of the race route on the day of the event. Here is a breakdown of the road closures and diversions scheduled for the race day:

Mumbles Road will be closed in both directions between the traffic lights at the slip near St Helen’s Rugby Ground and the bottom of Sketty Lane from 5.30am until 4pm.

From 10.30am until 1.30pm, Mumbles Road will be closed to westbound traffic from the bottom of Sketty Lane to Mayals Road, with eastbound traffic reduced to one lane and diverted up Sketty Lane at that point.

Mumbles Road will be shut in both directions between the bottom of Mayals Road and West Cross Roundabout, with the road reopening on a rolling basis after the last runner passes.

Westbound traffic will be prohibited on Mumbles Road between West Cross Inn Roundabout and Oystermouth Square, with the road reopening on a rolling basis upon the safe passage of the last runner.

During these closures, access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times, and parking on Bryn Road will be suspended to allow for emergency vehicle access. The closures will be lifted promptly once it is deemed safe to do so by the event organizers. Stay updated with the latest news by signing up for our newsletter.
