The Michelin-loved restaurant replacing Nook opposite one of Cardiff’s best parks that offers six-course taster menus

A new restaurant, Hiraeth, is set to open in Cardiff, taking over the spot previously occupied by the well-known small plates restaurant, Nook, which closed earlier this year. Hiraeth, approved by the Michelin Guide and holding double AA Rosettes, will be offering a six-course taster menu at its location near Victoria Park on Cowbridge Road East. The restaurant, run by Andy Ashton and Lewis Dwyer, originally started as a pop-up and gained popularity with their at-home kits during the pandemic, leading to the establishment of a permanent location in Cowbridge in 2022.

After a brief stint at Court Coleman Manor House Hotel in Bridgend, Hiraeth has now found its new home in Victoria Park. Andy Ashton shared that the move back to a smaller, intimate setting aligns with their vision of a cosy restaurant where they could focus on their passion for cooking. The restaurant will offer a six-course taster menu for lunch and dinner, as well as a three-course set menu for lunch, with menu options changing regularly to showcase their style of cooking.

The interior of Hiraeth is described as light and airy, with minimalist decor featuring sleek wooden accents, elegant furnishings, and plants to create a welcoming atmosphere. The menu will be displayed on chalkboards, adding to the restaurant’s charm. Hiraeth officially opened its doors on September 11 and will operate for lunch from 12pm to 2.30pm, and dinner from 6pm to 9.30pm, Wednesday to Saturday.

Situated in a picturesque location overlooking Victoria Park, the restaurant offers diners a beautiful setting to enjoy their meals. Andy Ashton expressed his excitement about the new location, highlighting the stunning views and the joy of cooking the food they love. Both Andy and Lewis are passionate about creating a dining experience that reflects their love for food and cooking, aiming to bring that passion to every dish served at Hiraeth.

For those looking to experience Hiraeth’s culinary delights, the restaurant invites guests to indulge in their carefully crafted taster and set menus, promising a dining experience filled with flavours and creativity. With its focus on delivering high-quality dishes in a warm and inviting setting, Hiraeth aims to become a go-to destination for food enthusiasts in Cardiff and beyond.
