Tesco trials major Clubcard change which could save shoppers more

Tesco is currently conducting a trial of a significant alteration to their Clubcard loyalty scheme, offering select customers exclusive savings. The new scheme, called Your Clubcard Prices, provides personalised deals based on individual shopping patterns. Participants in the trial receive tailored discounts via the Tesco app every Wednesday, with each offer valid for seven days and allowing for multiple purchases within that timeframe.

Customers enrolled in the trial have these special prices automatically added to their Clubcard account. To redeem the discounts, they simply need to scan or tap their Clubcard at checkout. However, it’s important to note that these offers are only valid in larger Tesco stores and are not applicable in Express convenience stores or online. The supermarket chain has not disclosed details about the number of customers involved in the trial or the duration of the testing phase.

A Tesco spokesperson explained, “We are currently offering Your Clubcard Prices to a trial group of our Clubcard members, giving them offers on products they regularly buy at Tesco, in addition to the thousands of Clubcard Prices available to all Clubcard members each week.” Clubcard members typically earn points for every pound spent on groceries in-store and online, as well as on fuel purchased at Tesco petrol stations. Points are also accrued for spending on Tesco Mobile, using a Tesco credit card, or making payments with a Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card.

To receive a Clubcard voucher, customers must amass a minimum of 150 points, which can then be used as £1.50 towards purchases at Tesco. Tesco isn’t the only retailer offering personalised deals to loyalty scheme members. Lidl’s Lidl Plus offers discounts based on purchase history, while Sainsbury’s Nectar Card provides personalised vouchers. Marks & Spencer also provides tailored discounts through its Sparks Card.

In addition to these loyalty scheme updates, Tesco has recently expanded its same-day delivery slots to over 400 stores. Previously, home delivery slots started from 7 pm, and click-and-collect services were available from 4 pm. Now, customers can benefit from same-day home delivery starting from 1 am and click-and-collect from 12 pm.

This move by Tesco comes as part of the supermarket’s ongoing efforts to enhance customer experience and provide more tailored benefits to loyal shoppers. With the Your Clubcard Prices trial, Tesco aims to reward customers for their continued support while also encouraging increased engagement with the Clubcard scheme.

As the retail landscape continues to evolve, personalisation and targeted offers are becoming increasingly important tools for businesses to retain and attract customers. By leveraging data and insights from customer behaviour, retailers like Tesco can create more meaningful and valuable experiences for shoppers, ultimately driving loyalty and satisfaction.

The Your Clubcard Prices trial represents Tesco’s commitment to innovation and customer-centricity, demonstrating a proactive approach to meeting the changing needs and expectations of modern consumers. As the trial progresses, Tesco will likely gather valuable feedback and insights to further refine and improve the Clubcard scheme, ensuring that it remains a relevant and compelling offering for customers in the long term.
