State pensioners born before 1958 eligible for up to £200 from Octopus Energy following cuts

State pensioners born before 1958 are now eligible for up to £200 from Octopus Energy following recent cuts. The company has extended its £30 million Octo Assist fund to provide support to those pensioners who need it the most. Pensioners with Octopus Energy can apply for discretionary energy bill credits ranging from £50 to £200 after the Labour Party government axed the £300 Winter Fuel Payments for everyone.

In order to qualify for the new support, state pensioners must be born before September 23, 1958. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) stated that eligible pensioners could receive Winter Fuel Payments ranging from £100 to £300. Octopus Energy has announced that they will offer thousands of discretionary credits of £50, £100, and £200 for those who apply.

The company is also offering assistance with written, phone, or online applications to reach as many eligible individuals as possible. Additionally, Octopus Energy is providing free benefit and pension credit checks to ensure that pensioners are not missing out on extra cash, as a significant amount of unclaimed pension credit currently totals up to £1.7 billion.

Octopus Energy is urging people to look out for elderly relatives and to notify them of the support available. Greg Jackson, the Founder of Octopus Energy Group, emphasised the importance of companies stepping in to provide support during challenging times. He highlighted the company’s commitment to expanding the Octo Assist fund to offer extra help to pensioners in need.

Octopus Energy prides itself on delivering world-class customer service and innovative energy products to 8 million households globally, operating across 18 countries along the entire energy value chain. The company’s efforts to support eligible pensioners showcase their dedication to assisting customers during difficult circumstances.
