Singer Seth Binzer’s cause of death, age 49, confirmed

Seth Binzer, known by his stage name Shifty Shellshock, frontman of Crazy Town, tragically passed away at the age of 49 earlier this year. Californian officials have concluded that his cause of death was due to the combined effects of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine. Binzer was found at his home on June 24, and the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner has determined his death to be accidental. Throughout his life, Binzer battled with drug addiction and had appeared on TV shows such as Celebrity Rehab and Sober House.

In a statement issued to US outlets following his death, Binzer’s manager Howie Hubberman expressed regret, stating that they had “failed” the singer. Co-founding Crazy Town in 1995 with Bret Mazur, Binzer shot to fame with the hit song “Butterfly,” which became an anthem of the early 2000s. In 2004, he released a solo album titled “Happy Love Sick” and also led the band Shifty And The Big Shots. Binzer leaves behind three sons, Halo, Gage, and Phoenix, from relationships with three different partners – Melissa Clark, Tracey Shelor, and British model Jasmine Lennard, respectively.

The news of Seth Binzer’s untimely death due to substance abuse has saddened fans and industry peers alike. His struggles with addiction and the ultimate tragedy of his passing serve as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of substance abuse in the music industry. Binzer’s legacy as a talented musician and performer will live on, but his death underscores the urgent need for greater support and resources for those battling addiction.
