Scrum-half Kieran Hardy has been ruled out of the remainder of the Six Nations

Wales scrum-half Kieran Hardy has been ruled out of the remainder of the Six Nations because of a hamstring injury sustained while defeating England 40 – 24.

Hardy, 25, was one of many ‘keys’ in Wales’ Triple Crown on the weekend, but in particular catching England cold with a quick tap-and-go penalty to score a try before being replaced by Gareth Davies.

Welsh Rugby Union statement: “Kieran has been released from the squad due to a hamstring injury suffered in the game versus England on Saturday. He will continue his rehabilitation back at the Scarlets.”

No replacement scrum-half will be called up for Hardy as there are three scrum halves in the squad in Tomos Williams, Gareth Davies and Lloyd Williams.

Weekend club releases: Aaron Wainwright and Owen Watkin are being released to the Dragons and Ospreys respectively for this weekend, with the two sides facing each other on Saturday in a Welsh derby. They are due to link back up with the Wales squad on Monday.

Wayne Pivac is not obliged to release Wales players to the Welsh regions while they are on Six Nations duty, even in the week ‘off’. but its worth to note England-based players head back to their clubs during such weeks.
