A violent riot broke out at HMP Parc earlier this evening, escalating from a fight between two prisoners into a full-scale disturbance that required specialist riot officers to intervene.
According to reports, what began as a simple altercation between two inmates quickly spiralled out of control as multiple groups became involved in the violence. During the chaos, a female member of staff sustained injuries, with witnesses stating that she had blood on her and may have suffered an arm injury.
The situation intensified rapidly, prompting officers equipped with riot gear to be deployed in an effort to restore order. Several prisoners were restrained, handcuffed, and subsequently removed from the wing.
This marks the second major riot at HMP Parc within the past year, raising fresh concerns over security and the management of the facility, which is operated by G4S. Critics argue that the private security firm is failing to maintain safety, not only for inmates but also for its own staff.
The latest outbreak of violence is likely to renew calls for a review of how HMP Parc is managed and whether stronger measures are needed to prevent further disturbances.
