Ring Doorbell Captures Hooded Figures Moments Before Woman’s Loud Screams
Residents in Llanfoist, near Abergavenny, were left on edge following an alleged theft incident late on Sunday, March 16. An eyewitness, who prefers to remain anonymous, reported that their Ring doorbell alerted them to suspicious activity at 11:39 pm. The resident mentioned that the camera has been crucial in monitoring the street, providing a sense of security.
The resident recounted, “I was in bed when I had an alert from my Ring doorbell. I heard a vehicle stop and some banging, so I thought they might be after one of the vans – that’s why I started recording.” The recorded video captured two hooded figures approaching a white pick-up van with torches. In an attempt to deter them, the neighbour shouted loudly. However, moments later, the figures were seen carrying an unidentified object towards a smaller vehicle that pulled up alongside them.
As the small vehicle drove away, the neighbour can be heard calling out, “You’re caught on camera!” The incident targeted a pick-up van on Gypsy Lane in Llanfoist. In response to the situation, Inspector Emma Sowrey of Gwent Police stated, “We had a call just after midnight on Monday, March 18, from someone reporting they’d disturbed a number of people trying to break into, and steal items, from a van parked on Gypsy Lane in Llanfoist.”
Authorities conducted a comprehensive search of the area following the report but did not locate any suspects at that time. Inspector Sowrey added, “We have since spoken to the victim, who’s reported tools have been taken from the van, and we’re currently reviewing the images and the footage as part of our ongoing investigation.” Individuals with information regarding the incident were urged to contact the police.
In such incidents, neighbourhood surveillance and prompt reporting play a vital role in aiding law enforcement.
