Rail workers have decisively voted to accept pay offers from train companies and Network Rail, bringing an end to a long-standing national rail dispute. Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) have given their backing to a one-year pay rise of 4.5% at Network Rail (NR) and increases at various train operators. The pay rises for train operators include a 4.75% increase for the previous year and a 4.5% rise for the 2024/25 period.
The vote results were overwhelmingly in favor, with almost 99% of train company members supporting the pay offers. Network Rail workers also showed strong support, with 88% backing their pay rise. The RMT expressed gratitude towards its members for their dedication during the campaign, which aimed to defend jobs, working conditions, pay, and pensions from previous government and contractor challenges.
