Pride of Britain launches £100,000 fund to support community heroes

The Pride of Britain has unveiled a £100,000 fund to support local heroes who are making a difference in their communities. This fund, set up to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, offers grants of £2,500, £1,000, and £500 for worthy causes. Individuals or groups dedicated to enhancing their communities can be nominated to receive these grants.

The Pride of Britain Fund aims to spread the spirit of Pride of Britain by assisting charities and community organisations throughout the UK. Over 100 groups have already received grants, such as the Manchester youth charity N-Gage founded by Christie Spurling, which has positively impacted the lives of numerous young individuals. For instance, with a £30,000 grant from the fund, N-Gage was able to purchase a mobile youth club to engage with young people in their own environments.

Recipients of the grants can use the funds for various purposes, from providing companionship and meals to older people, to beautifying the high street with flowers. It could also support sports clubs offering safe spaces for children to play or youth groups guiding individuals towards brighter futures. The Pride of Britain Awards, televised on ITV1, will be celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, coinciding with this generous fund giveaway.

To apply for a grant or nominate someone, individuals can complete an online form via reachforms.co.uk/POB or by scanning the provided QR code. The Pride of Britain team will compile a shortlist, with the final decision resting with local communities nationwide. This inclusive approach allows communities to have a say in who receives funding in their area.

By supporting local heroes and community champions, the Pride of Britain Fund continues to make a significant impact on grassroots projects across the UK. The generosity of this initiative not only recognises the selfless efforts of individuals and groups but also empowers communities to drive positive change from within.
