Police are currently investigating a video that surfaced showing a hooded individual throwing an object that shattered a window of a football supporters’ bus in Cardiff. The incident occurred while Middlesbrough fans’ bus was parked as they enjoyed drinks in a pub during their visit to watch their team play against Cardiff City in a Championship clash on Saturday.
According to a statement from one of the visiting fans via the Middlesbrough Supporters Forum, recounting the situation to Wales Online, “It was our bus. The outer pane of one of the windows got smashed. Our driver chased him away and got details of the car he jumped into and told the police. We were in a pub nearby, 100 of us, enjoying a lovely atmosphere with locals in there. When the window was damaged, people from nearby houses came out to help clear up the glass. The coach was okay to travel home.”
A spokesperson from South Wales Police confirmed they are aware of the video circulating on social media, allegedly showing the incident on the day of the match between Middlesbrough FC and Cardiff City on August 31. An investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
The Cardiff City stadium match ended with a 2-0 victory for Middlesbrough, with Boro centre-back Matt Clarke scoring early in the second half from a corner, followed by an own goal from Bluebirds captain Aaron Ramsey in the 82nd minute.
The circumstances surrounding the bus window incident and the police investigation into the matter are still developing. Fans and authorities await further updates and information on this concerning incident.
