Police issue artist impression of man who has been missing for 16 months

Police in Wales have released an artist’s impression of a man who has been missing for 16 months. The illustration represents how Shane Barnett, a 49-year-old man, might look now. Shane was last seen leaving the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff on May 7, 2023. Since his disappearance, his family has been tirelessly searching for him, issuing emotional appeals in the hope of finding any information about his whereabouts. Despite extensive efforts to locate Shane, there have been no confirmed sightings since he was spotted on Allensbank Road near the hospital around 12.30pm on the day he went missing.

According to South Wales Police, Shane is originally from Bettws and leads a transient lifestyle, possibly living in a tent. He has connections to Swansea and has previously resided in the Roath area of Cardiff. Described as 6ft 5ins tall, slim build with short, light grey hair, Shane was last seen wearing a grey North Face t-shirt, a black jacket, green cargo trousers, black trainers, and carrying a black rucksack. Earlier this year, Shane’s sister, Nicola Casey, made a heartfelt plea for information on his whereabouts, refusing to believe he may not be alive until he is found. She has been actively searching Cardiff daily, putting up posters and using social media to spread awareness.

Anyone with information or potential sightings of Shane Barnett is urged to contact South Wales Police, quoting occurrence number 2300147308. Shane’s family continues to hold onto hope for his safe return, and the community’s assistance in locating him is greatly appreciated. Your help could make a difference in reuniting Shane with his loved ones.
