Plans for new PureGym in former carpet shop approved

Plans have been given the green light for a new PureGym site to open in the Neath Port Talbot area. The local council approved the proposals, which involve converting an existing building at the Vale of Neath Retail Park that was previously occupied by Carpet Right/Topps Tiles. The gym is set to offer a variety of fitness equipment and facilities over a floor space of around 964 square metres, including areas for cardiovascular machines, functional fitness equipment, resistance weight machines, free weights, fitness classes, and changing facilities.

The new gym is expected to cater primarily to residents of Neath and will operate 24 hours a day. Concerns were raised during the planning committee meeting, particularly regarding potential noise impacts due to the late opening hours and parking issues at the site. However, officials assured that measures would be put in place to control noise levels and that the available 100 parking spaces exceed the required number for such a facility.

Following discussions, the plans were unanimously approved by council members, with a decision not to conduct a site visit beforehand. The gym is planned to be located across from Halfords off the A4230 Cadoxton Road. The approval of this new fitness facility aims to provide residents with convenient access to state-of-the-art equipment and fitness classes to support their health and wellbeing.
