Plans for 133 new houses submitted in Bridgend
An application has been made to Bridgend Council for the construction of 133 new houses in the Llynfi Valley. The proposal submitted by Persimmon Homes outlines plans for residential development at Pont-Rhydd-y-Cyff, near Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Llangynwyd. This housing project is part of the local development plan for the area, designating specific plots of land for housing purposes.
The site in question spans around six hectares and includes fields and woodland from Tyn-Y-Waun Farm. The proposal includes the construction of 133 houses, with 15% of them designated as affordable housing units. Additionally, the project entails access development, landscaping, and other associated works to complement the housing development.
Earlier this year, a separate proposal for 73 properties in the same vicinity was put forth. This application contributes to a series of planned developments in the Pont Rhyd-y-Cyff area, aiming to rejuvenate the region with new residential offerings. The vision for the project is to create a sustainable neighborhood that integrates well with the local landscape, incorporating green infrastructure for lifestyle and ecological benefits.
The proposed dwellings are expected to be predominantly two-story buildings, featuring a variety of house types and material finishes. The housing units will comprise two, three, and four-bedroom properties to cater to diverse resident needs. Submitted in July 2024, the current application will undergo review by the local planning department for approval in the near future.
