The coordinated efforts led to the fire being brought under control by 5 am, with additional support from National Grid, Wales and West Utilities, and the Salvation Army. Despite the setback, Leekes aimed to reopen by midday on the same day, underscoring their commitment to serving customers promptly.
In an official statement, Leekes commended the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service for their effective response, averting a more catastrophic outcome. The store confirmed the necessity to address water clearance within some areas but anticipated a timely reopening. The incident forced temporary road closures, with the A4222 Llantrisant Road southbound reopened by 8 am following necessary safety assessments.
