A person tragically died after an incident on a Welsh railway line near Aberystwyth railway station. The British Transport Police responded to reports of the incident between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth on Wednesday, August 28. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The British Transport Police stated, “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks at 3.30 pm yesterday (August 28) near Aberystwyth Railway Station. Officers and paramedics attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The line was temporarily closed while emergency services dealt with the situation, leading to the cancellation of some trains. Rail replacement buses were arranged to transport passengers in the affected area. National Rail shared customer advice, alerting travelers that “A person has been hit by a train between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, some lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled or revised until approximately 18:00. Rail replacement buses are operating between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth.”

The British Transport Police stressed that the incident was not deemed suspicious. Investigations are ongoing, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
