A woman has refused to travel with her best friend after being banned from a flight in Peru due to a luggage mistake. The incident saw British traveller Cody Stanley unable to board a flight from Lima to Quito because she had packed a portable charger in her checked baggage. Cody, known as one half of the travel blogging duo @fortheplot, shared her experience on social media as a cautionary tale.
Accidentally packing the portable charger led to her being stranded in Lima while her friend, Ellie Blake, continued their journey to Ecuador. Cody emphasised the importance of being mindful of what is packed in checked baggage and issued a warning to never include a portable charger in checked luggage. UK Civil Aviation Authority guidelines state that any luggage containing a lithium battery with specific content or rating should not be placed in checked baggage.
Passengers are urged to carry such items in hand luggage and to check with airlines regarding prohibited items in checked-in baggage. The incident highlights the significance of following airline regulations to avoid travel disruptions and ensure a smooth journey. It serves as a reminder for travellers to be diligent in packing and to stay informed about airline guidelines to prevent similar mishaps in the future.
