A Carmarthenshire man, Alfie Davies, found with hundreds of indecent images of children has breached a previous life-long Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), as reported by Wales Online. Davies, aged 27, had been banned from internet access due to prior child sex offences. In 2018, he was jailed for possessing indecent photos of children and in 2017, he received a sentence for inciting a teenager. Despite the internet ban, Davies was discovered to have accessed online content from November to May, leading to a search warrant execution on May 15.
During the search, it was revealed that Davies had been using a Snapchat account under a false name and had stored numerous indecent images on his phone. The disturbing content included 361 category A images and 334 videos, 214 category B images with 177 videos, and 111 category C images along with 90 videos. Some of the material even featured children less than a year old.
In court, prosecution barrister Brian Simpson highlighted the severity of the case, while defence barrister Emma Harris acknowledged the inevitable custody awaiting Davies. The judge, Geraint Walters, remarked on Davies’ consistent disregard for court orders and sentenced him to a six-year extended term, comprising a three-year custodial sentence and a three-year licence period. Davies remains subject to the life-long SHPO.
The repetitive nature of Davies’ crimes, along with the disturbing content of the images, led the court to treat his previous offences as aggravating factors. Despite having pleaded guilty to the charges, Davies received a stern sentence due to the seriousness of the violations and his disregard for legal orders.
