This confusion has led many to opt for supplements instead of relying on whole foods like kefir, fresh fruits, and fibre-rich grains, missing out on the numerous benefits these traditional foods offer. The survey also indicated that while two-thirds of respondents acknowledge the impact of poor gut health on mental wellbeing, only 22% actively take steps to improve their gut health. Nasser points out that a healthy gut not only aids digestion but also positively influences other bodily systems, including immunity, weight management, and mental health, reducing bloating and stress levels.
