‘Nose-diving’ plane crashes onto road inches from cars

A light aircraft made a dramatic crash landing onto a busy road in Gloucestershire, narrowly missing cars on the A419. Emergency services, including the Great Western Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene near Aston Down Airfield in Frampton Mansell. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon, saw the plane come down after what witnesses described as a stall and nosedive.

Despite the dramatic nature of the crash, both the pilot and passenger onboard the aircraft miraculously escaped serious injury. The air ambulance personnel stood down shortly after arriving, as it was determined that the occupants were not severely harmed. Images of the aftermath were captured by Mila Vukelic, showing the plane lying on the road.

Gloucestershire Constabulary issued a statement informing motorists about road closures in the area as emergency services attended to the downed aircraft. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the incident. Both occupants of the plane were to be evaluated by the ambulance service.

The police closed the road in both directions to facilitate the response to the crash. The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and ensure the safety of the road before it can be reopened to traffic.
