The highly sought-after restaurant pop-up, Nook by the River, is making a comeback in 2023, and bookings are set to open this week. For three weeks, diners can enjoy the delightful outdoor dining experience at Llandaff Rowing Club.
Reservations for Nook By The River will go live on Monday, June 5 at 12:30 pm, and you can secure a table from Wednesday, July 12 to Sunday, August 6. Nook, renowned for its emphasis on small plates, local ingredients, and natural wines, quickly gained a devoted following after its establishment in 2019 in Canton. It became the talk of the town, drawing diners from near and far.

In January 2021, Nook earned a coveted spot in the Michelin Guide, and it has maintained its reputation by impressing guests with its ingredient-driven dishes, such as mussels in ‘nduja butter and Welsh aged Florentine steak.
We had the pleasure of reviewing Nook By the River in 2021, where we savored tantalizing dishes like torched mackerel with horseradish cream, heritage tomatoes, rocket, and smoked salt, as well as barbecued chicken thighs and tenderstem broccoli with cashew ricotta.
As for Nook’s permanent location on Cowbridge Road East, it recently underwent refurbishment and reopened in April. The restaurant serves as the second venture for the husband and wife team, Phill and Deb Lewis, who also founded Dusty’s Pizza and opened Kindle at the park ranger’s cottage in Sophia Gardens in 2021.
