Nick Knowles, known for presenting DIY SOS, has undertaken an impressive transformation ahead of his participation in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. Despite the show being embroiled in controversies involving former professionals like Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima, who departed after disagreements with their partners in 2023, the programme seems to have bolstered its support team with psychologists and counsellors to ensure the well-being of its contestants. In addition to focusing on mental health, physical fitness is also a priority, with Nick Knowles sharing insight into the medical support available, stating, “Bits of me are knackered but they’ve already made sure I’ve got physio support.”
At 61 years old, Nick has dedicated himself to preparing for the demanding 14-week dance competition by shedding nearly two stone through a rigorous diet and exercise regimen. His preparation included intensifying his gym workouts and following a strict diet plan, which involved consuming only one meal a day, avoiding carbohydrates, and prioritising proteins and green vegetables. Nick mentioned a past wellness retreat in Thailand in 2017, where he reportedly lost nine kilos and adopted a “vegan flexitarian” diet after practising yoga.
While Nick has had limited formal dance training, except for learning some Tango steps during a travel series earlier this year, his background being married to a professional dancer and having three sisters who dance suggests he may have an edge in the competition. Despite feeling nervous about certain dance styles like the Charleston, Nick’s dedication to his physical preparation and the support he has received indicate his commitment to excel on Strictly Come Dancing.
