New Express Coach Route Proposed to Connect North and South Wales
Transport for Wales is considering a new express coach route that would significantly cut travel time between north and south Wales, as reported by Wales Online. The potential service aims to reduce journey times by approximately 90 minutes compared to existing train routes. The proposed coach service would operate between Bangor and Carmarthen, with scheduled stops at key town centres and railway stations along the western coast of Wales. Currently, the public transport journey between Bangor and Carmarthen takes around six hours and 20 minutes, but the new bus route could reduce this to approximately four hours and 45 minutes.
Initially, the service would utilise diesel coaches before transitioning to electric vehicles, aligning with sustainability goals. Transport for Wales plans to operate eight coaches per day, equipped with on-board facilities suitable for longer journeys.
