‘New area of interest’ identified in search for man missing for six months

A new “area of interest” has been identified in the search for a man who has been missing for six months. Jack O’Sullivan, 23, vanished without a trace after he was last seen at 3.15am on Saturday, March 2, in Bristol. His family has taken matters into their own hands by hiring search dog teams to assist in the search for him. They reported that the dogs detected a new area of interest during the search.

Jack’s mother expressed frustration with the police’s efforts, stating that they have not done enough in their search for her son. The family engaged a specialist dog team to retrace the areas from where Jack was last seen to their family home. Three dogs indicated a location of interest on the A370 bypass, prompting the family to urge authorities to investigate further.

Despite the alert from the search dog teams, the family claims they had to wait a week for Avon and Somerset Police to decide on following up on the lead. Jack’s mother, Catherine, highlighted the challenges they faced in obtaining information from the police and emphasized the need for prompt action in such cases.

Avon and Somerset Police have undertaken extensive search efforts, including reviewing CCTV footage, conducting river and bank searches, and deploying various resources such as mounted police and drones. The force has received numerous tips from the public and issued appeals to gather more information about Jack’s whereabouts.

Assistant Chief Constable Joanne Hall reassured the public of the police’s dedication to finding Jack, emphasizing the importance of such investigations and the impact on families of missing persons. She noted the substantial number of missing persons cases in the region over the past year, highlighting the ongoing commitment to each case.

The family continues their search for Jack, determined to uncover any leads that could bring him home safely. The recent discovery of a new area of interest has sparked hopes for a breakthrough in the investigation. Avon and Somerset Police have been approached for a statement regarding the family’s appeal for further searches in the identified area.
