The man was found wearing a Zone 3 Agile wetsuit, which authorities believe indicates that he could have been up to six-foot-five-inches tall, weighing between 14 and 15 stone with a 44 to 48 inch chest. The remote location of the reservoir, situated in the Elan Valley dams, sees minimal foot traffic, even during the peak summer months. The closest town, Rhayader, known for attracting walkers and cyclists, is approximately a half-hour drive away.
Despite conducting extensive inquiries, including cross-referencing missing persons records with other police forces and broader forensic investigations, the man remains unidentified. Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have visited Claerwen Reservoir or the surrounding area between July 2024 and October 18, encouraging them to come forward with any information that could assist in solving the mystery.
