‘My rare cancer was dismissed as a verruca – your mind immediately goes to the worst place’

A mum of twins survived rare skin cancer misdiagnosed as a verruca. Bea Buckley developed a mole on her foot while pregnant, which turned out to be a potentially fatal form of skin cancer. Despite initial dismissals, she underwent surgeries and targeted therapy, becoming cancer-free. The cancer, acral melanoma, is rare and more common in brown or black-skinned individuals. Bea highlighted the importance of research and joined a melanoma database study. She shared her story to raise awareness and encourage others to participate in research.
