Murder police investigating ‘suspicious death’ of child in Gendros, Swansea, and arrest woman

Police in Swansea are currently investigating the suspicious death of a child in Gendros. Emergency services were called to a property in Cwm Du Close at 8.30pm on Thursday evening, August 29. South Wales Police confirmed that a 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody in Bridgend.

The authorities have set up an incident room for the investigation, which is being led by the major crime investigations team. It has been disclosed that the child and the arrested woman lived together. South Wales Police has stated that they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

Chief Superintendent Chris Truscott, divisional commander for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, expressed, “This is a distressing incident which will be a shock to the local community.” He added that detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and that there will be an increased police presence in the area to offer reassurance to residents.

Truscott also cautioned against speculation on social media, emphasising that it can be unhelpful and distressing to those affected by the incident. Anyone with information relevant to the investigation has been encouraged to come forward and assist the authorities.
