A tragic event unfolded in Wales when a mother settled her young son on the sofa after he came home feeling ill, only to discover later that he had passed away. Harry Jones, just four years old, had returned home from school feeling sick. His mother, Julia Jones, comforted him on the sofa, but when she went to check on him two hours later, she found that he had died in his sleep in September 2005.
Since that heartbreaking day, Harry’s family from Wrexham has been honouring his memory by raising over £80,000 for Hope House Children’s Hospice. The support and love they received from the hospice following Harry’s unexpected passing inspired them to continue fundraising. They are organising a Golf Day at Carden Park on May 16, with the backing of CCP Building Products Limited, where Julia works.
Julia fondly recalled Harry as their “wonderful little boy” who went about his day as usual before his sudden passing. She recounted the moment she found him on the sofa and the frantic emotions that followed. The family found solace and support at Hope House, where they were able to spend precious time with Harry and receive counselling to cope with the loss.
In a further blow to the family, in 2012, Harry’s twin brother, Charlie, was diagnosed with kidney failure. Once again, Hope House stood by their side, providing support throughout Charlie’s kidney transplant. Julia expressed gratitude for the unwavering support they received from the hospice and highlighted the importance of giving back through fundraising in Harry’s memory.
CCP Building Products Limited, a local manufacturing plant where Julia is employed, has joined forces with the family to support their fundraising efforts. The company’s enthusiastic involvement in organising fundraising events, including the Charity Golf Day, has meant a great deal to Julia and her family as they continue to honour Harry’s memory.
The resilience and determination shown by Julia and her family in the face of tragedy serve as a testament to the power of love and community support. Through their efforts, they not only keep Harry’s memory alive but also contribute to the invaluable work of Hope House Children’s Hospice in supporting families during difficult times.
As they continue their fundraising activities and collaborations with CCP Building Products Limited, the family’s dedication to turning their loss into a force for good is a shining example of strength and compassion in the face of adversity. The legacy of Harry Jones lives on through the love and generosity shown by his family and their supporters.
