Mum of missing Jack O’Sullivan hires specialist dog search team

The mother of missing Jack O’Sullivan has taken matters into her own hands by hiring a specialist dog search team as the search for her son continues. Catherine O’Sullivan remains convinced that her son, who vanished more than four months ago, is still alive despite the police focusing on the theory that he fell into the water while returning from a party.

Jack, 23, went missing on March 2 after being last seen near Brunel Lock Road/Brunel Way in Bristol. His mother expressed frustration with the police investigation, stating that divers have retrieved items from the water, such as football boots and a wedding ring, but nothing belonging to Jack has been found. Catherine believes that the police have not made efforts beyond their water theory and have not thoroughly searched other areas.

She remains dedicated to finding her son, rejecting the idea that he may have fallen into the water. Catherine has considered the possibility that Jack may have gotten into a car unknowingly and has been dropped off elsewhere. Despite facing challenges and encountering trolls demanding ransom for information about Jack, the community’s support has been overwhelming for the family.

The family has employed a specialist dog search team and is retracing Jack’s last known route from Bristol to his family home in Neath. The search team is waiting to conduct more searches, including an area of interest identified on the A370. Catherine has lodged a formal complaint with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) regarding the police investigation.

Avon and Somerset Police have stated that over 20 teams and departments have been involved in the investigation, including reviewing hours of CCTV footage and conducting searches on the river and surrounding areas. Assistant Chief Constable Joanne Hall expressed the police’s commitment to finding Jack and acknowledged the anguish the family is going through.

Despite the challenges faced in the search for Jack, Catherine remains determined to continue her efforts in finding her son. The family is actively pursuing leads and conducting searches while seeking answers and closure in this distressing time. The police have assured the family of their ongoing efforts in the investigation, although challenges remain in obtaining certain data and information related to Jack’s disappearance.

As the search for Jack O’Sullivan continues, his family and the community remain hopeful for his safe return, keeping his memory alive as they strive to uncover the truth behind his disappearance.
