Mum loses 13 stone and is now ‘half the person’ she once was by following this diet

A remarkable transformation has seen a mother shed a staggering 13 stone, effectively becoming “half the person” she once was thanks to a specific diet plan. Carys Teasdale’s journey began in 2020 when she weighed 26 stone and 3.5lbs and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Concerns about developing type 2 diabetes prompted Carys to take action towards healthier living.

Reflecting on her past eating habits, Carys admitted to a pattern of skipping breakfast, indulging in fatty foods at work as a chef, consuming large quantities of bread and takeaways, including a whole pizza to herself. She described herself as a binge eater, regularly consuming share bags of crisps and entire tubs of ice cream without considering the consequences. This unhealthy lifestyle had been a lifelong struggle for Carys, compounded by poor habits from childhood.

Determined to break this cycle for the sake of her daughter Alys, Carys joined a Slimming World group in Ogmore Vale under the guidance of consultant Janthia Bowden. Starting at 26 stone 3.5lbs and a size 30, Carys initially focused on dietary changes before gradually incorporating physical activity into her routine. Over time, she transitioned to regular exercise, initially through walking and eventually embracing gym sessions with newfound confidence.

The results of Carys’ dedication are astounding, with her shedding an incredible 13 stone and 4.5lbs, exceeding half her initial body weight. She expressed feeling like a completely different person, not just physically but also in terms of health, strength, and self-assurance. Embracing a new wardrobe that complements her transformed figure, Carys now enjoys activities with her daughter and confidently navigates social outings without sacrificing her progress.

Crediting Slimming World for this life-changing journey, Carys emphasised the impact of food optimisation in enabling her to continue enjoying meals she loves in a healthier manner. With a newfound sense of freedom around food choices and portion control, Carys highlighted that she no longer feels the need to miss out on social engagements or treats. This significant transformation has empowered Carys in various aspects of her life, reinforcing her commitment to sustained well-being.

Reflecting on her journey, Carys expressed gratitude to her consultant and fellow group members for their unwavering support and encouragement. Her consultant, Janthia Morgan, is set to launch a new group in Coity, offering others the opportunity to embark on their wellness journeys. Carys’s inspiring story serves as a testament to the transformative power of dedication, support, and a steadfast commitment to personal growth and well-being.
