A mother accused of murdering her young son and attempting to murder her father has appeared in court. Karolina Zurawska is facing charges related to the death of her six-year-old son, Alexander Zurawski, and the alleged attempted murder of her 67-year-old father, Krzysztof Siwi. The tragic incidents are said to have occurred on the same day at a residence in the Gendros area of Swansea.
After police responded to a call at the house on August 29, where they discovered Alexander’s lifeless body, Zurawska was charged with the serious offences. The defendant, Karolina Zurawska, appeared at Swansea Crown Court via videolink from HMP Eastwood Park on September 26. Her barrister, John Hipkin KC, mentioned that preparations were underway for a psychiatric assessment of his client. However, no pleas have been entered yet in the case.
The court set a further hearing for December 12, and Zurawska, aged 41 and residing on Cwm Du Close in Gendros, Swansea, will remain in custody until the next court date. A provisional trial date has been scheduled for February 17, 2025. Following the tragic loss of Alexander, his family released a touching tribute to him, highlighting his loving nature, intelligence, and helpfulness.
The family described Alexander as a well-behaved, clever, and mature child who was always eager to assist with household chores and bilingual in English and Polish.
