Morrisons shoppers in the UK can now enjoy the convenience of 30-minute grocery delivery as the supermarket chain expands its partnership with Deliveroo to over 500 stores. This collaboration allows customers to receive an array of around 2,500 fresh, frozen, and pantry items at their doorstep within half an hour. The Morrisons and Deliveroo alliance, initiated in April 2020 and operational in about 390 stores, aims to provide a swift grocery delivery service to consumers. Additionally, Deliveroo introduced its first ‘Deliveroo Hop’ in September 2021, a grocery delivery service solely online, partnering with Morrisons.
Joseph Sutton, Morrisons’ Convenience, Online & Wholesale Director, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing partnership, highlighting the importance of rapid delivery services to customers. Morrisons Daily, with approximately 1,600 outlets across the country, including about 600 franchise stores, is known for its widespread presence. Last month, Morrisons extended its collaboration with Just Eat to include delivery services from not just regular Morrisons stores but also cafes and Morrisons Daily convenience outlets. This extension began with Morrisons Cafes in 2022 and expanded to cover about 60 Morrisons Daily outlets by December 2023, with plans to incorporate over 700 more convenience stores in the near future.
Vice President of Grocery and Retail at Deliveroo, Suzy McClintock, expressed excitement about broadening the partnership with Morrisons to 500 Morrisons Daily stores. The extension aims to provide more households across the UK with the ease of getting fresh groceries delivered promptly. Morrisons’ alignment with Deliveroo signifies its commitment to enhancing customer experiences by offering efficient delivery services for daily essentials. This development reflects the supermarket giant’s dedication to meeting consumer needs and adapting to evolving shopping trends in the UK grocery market.
