Commuters in the UK are being cautioned to prepare for more travel disruptions as weather warnings remain in place for snow showers, ice, and rain. The Met Office has issued alerts for adverse conditions that may lead to flooding from heavy rain and melting snow, with over 60 flood warnings and 260 flood alerts already issued. The warnings come after many parts of the UK experienced heavy snowfall and icy rain over the weekend, prompting the issuance of two significant amber weather warnings.

Several major airports had to close their runways for hours due to the heavy snow, leading to stranded vehicles and road blockages across northern England. Southern England, from Cornwall to Kent, is under a yellow rain warning until 9 am on Monday. Additionally, parts of Wales, the Midlands, Greater Manchester, and Yorkshire are under a rain warning until 8 am. Northern England and Wales are under a yellow snow and ice warning until midday, while Northern Ireland has a yellow ice warning until 11 am. Scotland’s north and west have similar warnings until 11 am, with other regions facing warnings until midday.
