Met Office Extends Sunshine and Warm Weather Duration in the UK
After weeks of dry and sunny weather that enveloped Wales and the UK, bringing temperatures as high as 22°C, the warmth is set to linger. The pleasant weather is expected to continue into the upcoming weekend. Even though there may be a cooler start on Saturday, the Met Office forecasts a generally dry and sunny day, albeit with a brisk easterly wind, and a maximum temperature of 18°C. Sunday and the following week are also predicted to be dry and settled, with chilly nights giving way to warmer daytime temperatures, especially in the sunshine.
Many are now wondering how long this stretch of warm and dry weather will endure. BBC weatherman Derek Brockway has shared his insights for the weeks ahead. He mentioned that the upcoming week could see predominantly dry weather with plenty of sunshine. However, in mid-April, there may be a shift towards more unsettled conditions with the potential for rain or showers moving in from the west. Towards the end of the month, a return to high pressure is anticipated, which could bring about a spell of drier and settled weather once again.
The Met Office’s long-range weather forecast corroborates this shift in weather patterns. From April 8 to April 17, high pressure is expected to dominate, leading to mostly settled weather conditions with dry and bright spells. While daytime temperatures will vary depending on wind direction and cloud cover, most places can anticipate warm weather, with the possibility of very warm days further inland. Frost may occur on clear nights with light winds, and localized fog could form, particularly along the east coast.
Moving towards mid-April, a more unsettled period is foreseen, with intermittent rain or showers. Though unsettled, fair conditions are predicted between weather systems. Later in the month, a return to high pressure is favoured, heralding predominantly dry and fine weather. Temperatures are likely to start around average before rising to above-average levels during settled periods, resulting in warm or even very warm days, especially inland. However, cool nights may persist under clear skies.
It is essential to note the Met Office’s projections between April 18 and May 2, indicating a continuation of unsettled weather around mid-April, featuring periodic rain or showers. Despite this, fair conditions are expected in between weather systems. Subsequently, a return to high pressure is anticipated, ushering in mostly dry and pleasant weather. Temperatures are likely to begin at average levels before climbing to above-average readings during settled spells. Warm or very warm days may occur, particularly inland, amid light winds and fair conditions.
The current weather pattern indicates a continuation of pleasant conditions across Wales and the UK in the coming weeks, with occasional interruptions of unsettled weather before a return to settled conditions. So, make the most of the ongoing warmth and sunshine while being prepared for potential shifts in the weather towards mid-April, followed by a resurgence of settled conditions. Stay tuned for further updates as we progress through the changing season.
