Man stalked woman through Cardiff streets and allegedly sexually assaulted her under bridge

A man stalked a woman through the streets of Cardiff, allegedly sexually assaulting her under a bridge. The incident, which occurred in May this year, has left the victim traumatised, unable to sleep, and reluctant to leave her house. Detectives have made a public appeal for information on the suspect, who remains at large, with police releasing an image of a man they believe could assist in their inquiries.

The victim, a 23-year-old woman, had been out with friends at Pulse nightclub in Cardiff city centre before the attack took place. Walking home, she noticed a man following her and was subsequently assaulted under the railway bridge near Senghenydd Hall on Sunday, May 12. Following the assault, the suspect was last seen under the bridge. A month later, authorities released CCTV footage of a man entering the nightclub around the time of the incident, urging the public to come forward with any relevant information.

Detective Inspector Daniel Todd described the profound impact the assault has had on the victim, causing her ongoing distress, sleep disturbances, and anxiety. CCTV footage shows the suspect shadowing the victim through the streets of Cardiff after she left the nightclub, before engaging her in inappropriate conversation and assaulting her near Salisbury Road. The suspect, described as appearing Middle Eastern, in his 20s, around 5ft 11ins tall, with dark hair and eyes, was wearing a distinctive beige gilet with dark trousers.

The case was featured on BBC’s Crimewatch Live, where DI Todd appealed for witnesses or anyone recognising the suspect to come forward. The programme also shared a victim impact statement detailing the lasting effects of the assault on the woman. Police continue to investigate the incident and provide support to the victim, while urging anyone with information to contact South Wales Police at 101.
