Man sexually abused four girls aged between seven and 14

Man Gets 24-year Jail Term for Sexually Abusing Young Girls

A 66-year-old man named Peter David Long has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for committing sexual offences against four young girls back in the 1970s. Long pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 years and 13 counts of indecent assault. The victims were aged between seven and 14 at the time of the crimes. The sentencing took place at Cardiff Crown Court on October 25, where Long was also given a one-year licence and a lifetime restraining order for all complainants.

Detective Constable Georgia Davis, who handled the case, praised the bravery of the victims for coming forward and sharing their stories. She emphasized that allegations of sexual offences are always taken seriously by the police, no matter how much time has passed. Davis encouraged other victims of sexual crimes to speak up, assuring them of thorough investigations and support from specially trained officers and partner agencies.

In addition to his prison term, Long was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life. South Wales Police urged anyone who believes they may have been a victim of sexual abuse to seek help, advice, and support on their website. The police department aims to provide assistance and justice to all victims of sexual crimes, regardless of when the incidents occurred.
