Love Island Star Jack Fincham Sentenced to Six Weeks in Jail After Dog Attack
Former Love Island star Jack Fincham has been sentenced to six weeks in jail following an incident where his black cane corso dog, Elvis, bit a runner. The 32-year-old, known for winning the 2018 series of the ITV2 show with Dani Dyer, received the verdict at Southend Magistrates’ Court. As he was led to the cells, a woman in the public gallery wept while Fincham gave a thumbs up.
Prosecutor Erin Peck detailed that the dog attacked a runner named Robert Sudell in September 2022 in Swanley, Kent. Although Sudell accepted an apology, Fincham was to be cautioned and attend a responsible dog ownership course. However, a second incident occurred in Grays, Essex, where Fincham’s dog was again out of control, leading to charges being brought against him.
During the sentencing, Presiding Magistrate Anne Wade noted that Fincham was under a suspended sentence order at the time of the first incident in Swanley. The suspended order, related to a separate driving offence, was for 12 weeks but suspended for 18 months. Wade announced that a portion of this order would now be activated, resulting in the six-week jail term for Fincham.
In addition to the jail time, Fincham was ordered to pay a total of £3,680, including a £2,000 contribution towards kennelling costs, a fine of £961, and £200 in compensation to Mr. Sudell. Despite Fincham’s lawyer, Richard Cooper, stating that his client had no savings, Magistrate Wade arranged for the amount to be paid in monthly instalments of £400.
The court also imposed restrictions regarding Fincham’s dog, requiring it to be muzzled in public, kept on a lead, and prohibited from being left alone with anyone under 16. These measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of the public and preventing similar incidents in the future.
Following the incident, reactions poured in from fans and onlookers, with many expressing shock and disappointment at the turn of events involving the Love Island celebrity. Meanwhile, the runner, Mr. Sudell, who was injured in the dog attack, has been granted compensation as part of the court’s ruling.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership and adherence to regulations concerning dangerous animals. As the story continues to unfold, fans of Love Island and dog lovers alike will be closely following the developments surrounding Jack Fincham and his canine companion.
