Comedian Jimmy Carr recently revealed that he experienced what he describes as a “proper midlife crisis”. The 52-year-old star spent 12 weeks in a clinic to undergo transformations such as getting new teeth and a hair transplant. Reflecting on his decisions, Carr admitted to feeling like he may have “gone a bit crazy” with the amount of work he has had done. In an interview with The Telegraph, he joked about his extensive cosmetic procedures, including Botox, stating, “I’ve got the new teeth and the new hair – I’ve had a proper midlife crisis. Like, ‘Right, let’s get everything done”.
Aside from enhancements to his appearance, the host of ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’ also touched upon the topic of Botox, a procedure commonly used to temporarily alter one’s appearance and reduce signs of ageing. Carr humorously compared the need for maintenance to the myth of Scotland’s Forth Bridge that requires constant repainting, quipping, “Christ, I’m like the Forth Bridge – it never stops … Maintaining is the thing – I don’t think there’s anything you can do plastic surgery wise or augmentation wise, that makes you look better, you can just stay the same, that’s what you can hope for.”
Currently, Carr is set to front a new six-part series called ‘Last One Laughing UK’ on Amazon Prime. The show will feature various comedians, including Joe Lycett, Judi Love, and Daisy May Cooper, who are challenged to resist laughing while confined in a house together. Failure to maintain a straight face results in receiving a yellow card, with a red card being issued upon a second offense. When asked if he would participate in the show, Carr teased, “I think, technically, the amount of Botox I’ve had is cheating”. The series will release its first four episodes on March 20, followed by the final two episodes on March 27, exclusively on Prime Video.
Expressing his excitement about hosting the new series, Carr shared, “I’m thrilled to be making ‘Last One Laughing UK’ with Prime Video. It’s sure to deliver and if it doesn’t, it will leave the fun with your neighbours”. While Carr typically anticipates a lively atmosphere when working with comics, he noted that the premise of this show is different, stating, “Usually, when I make a TV show with 10 brilliant comics, I’m expecting everyone to have a bloody good laugh – but not in this series. The last one laughing wins. It’s a great format and it’s been a huge hit around the world. I can’t wait to see who cracks up first”.
Carr’s candid revelations about his midlife experiences and his lighthearted approach to cosmetic procedures have sparked interest among fans. His upcoming project, ‘Last One Laughing UK’, has already garnered attention for its unique premise and star-studded lineup. As fans eagerly await the release of the series, Carr’s humorous take on ageing and self-improvement continues to entertain audiences.
