Miranda recalled how she and “The Boy From Bristol” temporarily went their separate ways as doubts arose about the timing of their union. She expressed, “There were a few reasons why, we didn’t know whether the timing was right to become an ‘us.’ It was hard. It hurt my heart.”
As their bond deepened, Miranda admitted to feeling a “ghastly emptiness from the disconnection,” but she remained optimistic, believing that things would work out for the best. Miranda shared that she found love with a building surveyor who came to fix a mould issue at her London home. During an appearance on The One Show, she joyfully announced her marriage, exclaiming, “someone put a ring on it!” Miranda expressed her delight at marrying at 51, describing her husband as her best friend with whom she shares great joy. She enthused, “I’m married, I got married at 51 and it’s just so lovely. I’d written Gary for onscreen Miranda and it wasn’t until I was 49 that I met my person.”
In her book, Miranda shared her aspiration that her readers would draw inspiration from her own romantic tale.
